Financial Professional Talks Health Care Changes with Business

Richmond, VA. – Although the mandate for small businesses with 50 or more employees to offer health care insurance to their full-time workers under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been postponed for a year, many should still consider reviewing their financial options.

“America’s small businesses are heading into unchartered territory in a few months,” says local financial professional, Jonathan Kennedy, Jr., President  & Founder of Endeavor Capital LLC. “There are many new rules and regulations coming into play that will affect the choices small business owners make, and I encourage all small business owners who are concerned about the legislation to speak with a financial advisor today.”

At the moment small businesses are at a standstill—should they cut workers, cut hours or accept the $2,000 fine for each uncovered employee? A majority of the uncertainty surrounding small business comes from the definition of full-time, which is stated in the ACA as 30 hours per week or more.

It is unclear how government officials will address the definition to help small businesses operate, but raising the hourly amount is likely. Even so, small businesses can still face a $3,000 fine if employees choose to use the state exchange versus the employers’ insurance.

“Some small business owners are between a rock and a hard place,” said Kennedy, “but financial advisors throughout the country can help put things into perspective, especially since many independent representatives, like myself, are small business owners as well. We understand your day-to-day challenges, and we are more than willing to lend a helping hand for our neighbors.”
