Portland OR ( October 2, 2012 -  Clean Water Portland is working to get the issue of fluoridating Portland’s water on the ballet. In order to do this, they need more signature gatherers
than they can get from volunteers alone. To support their efforts, Zia McCabe has
organized an event where she and the Dandy Warhols along with other Portland bands
will be performing a one day, three stage concert to promote the public’s right to vote
in the face of opposition from the city council who support unilateral action despite
mounting criticism from voters.
Says McCabe, “We deserve time to educate ourselves, weigh our options and ultimately
vote as a community on issues that effect us so personally. I’m so grateful to all the
artists who have stepped up and agreed to perform on this bill. It’s going to be a
fantastic day of music all in the name of democracy!”
Petition signatures will be collected and all funds raised will be donated to Clean
Water Portland for their signature gathering effort. The campaign is working to
gather the 20,000 valid signatures needed to qualify the referendum measure that will
give the public a chance to vote on this incendiary issue.
Date & Location: Sunday Oct. 7, 2012 at Rotture (inside and outside) & Branx 315 SE
3rd Ave Portland, OR (Two of the three stages will be all ages)
Time: 1pm to 2am Cost: $10-$20 sliding scale donation
Note: As this is an event to support democracy and our right to vote, there will be
